Why merchants settle crypto payments in USDT

A store that “accepts crypto” still has to pay salaries, ads and suppliers in a unit it can plan around. If every invoice lands as a different coin, the finance team spends the week converting dust. Settlement in USDT is the boring, useful answer.

One balance, many doors

CryBit takes 300+ coins and networks at checkout. The merchant balance is USDT. You do not hold a wallet per chain in the UI. You hold a ledger number: what was paid, what is pending, what you can withdraw.

• The customer picks a coin they already have.

Why USDT and not a basket

A basket looks diversified until you try to report it. USDT is the unit most crypto desks already quote against. It is also what many counterparties expect when they say “send stables”. CryBit keeps that as the merchant currency so payouts and invoices share one column.

USDT invoices versus other coins

If the buyer pays USDT on TRC-20, the path is the shortest: same asset in, same asset booked. Other coins still settle to USDT on the merchant side. You do not have to know which network the customer used in order to read the cabinet.

What you should still watch

Network fees on the customer’s side depend on the coin they pick. Your acquiring fee starts at 0.5% and is visible on the live fees page. AML screening still runs on the incoming address. Settlement in USDT does not remove those checks — it just stops them from fragmenting your balance.
